A national centre for children's literature in Dumfries is to close its doors.

The site at Moat Brae opened in 2019 in the building which helped inspire author JM Barrie to write Peter Pan.

They have been fixing up Moat Brae, a house in Dumfries, for the past few years.  It's next to Dumfries Academy, where playwright J.M. Barrie went to school.  The grounds of the house are said to have been the inspiration for Peter Pan.  So several years ago there was a drive to get money donated to help transform the derelict house into a children ( Read more... )

We spent some time in town yesterday to attend a street fair for Moat Brae...  there was a gigantic puppet thing...  a bit drizzly at times, so not the greatest...  but we did our bit to support the whole thing.  And I set up a standing order to give the cause some money on a yearly basis a while ago...   We had the opportunity to stick our heads ( Read more... )
